ABOUT THE FAIR BARN

The Fair Barn is the oldest surviving early twentieth century fair exhibition hall in North Carolina. It was built in 1917 for use at the Sandhills Fair, one of the major country fairs in the Southeast from 1915 through 1925. Restored in 2002, The Fair Barn is now a multi-purpose community gathering place. The ceiling soars 2 ½ stories high, with large skylights that allow natural light to permeate the room. The pigmentation in the unusual floor complements the massive wooden structure. The facility is located within the confines of the Pinehurst Harness Track. The original 56 acre track complex is the oldest continuously operating equine sports facility in North Carolina
The Fair Barn has been the site of exhibitions, receptions, private parties, auctions, educational clinics, business seminars, concerts, art and antique shows, and any other functions requiring a large multi-use facility. The Fair Barn is available for rent to residents, non-residents, and businesses.
