2003 COMPREHENSIVE LONG RANGE PLAN

On April 22, 2003 the Village Council adopted the 2003 Comprehensive Long Range Village Plan. This plan is used as a guide for directing the future of the Village of Pinehurst. The purpose of the plan is to provide the vision for the Pinehurst of the future, and provide the basis for policies that will help attain that vision. The plan is a living document, and will be amended during the planning period (20 years) as times and circumstances warrant.

The 2003 Comprehensive Plan is the culmination of two years of careful study, thorough research, deliberation and debate involving the citizens of Pinehurst, the Comprehensive Long Range Plan Steering Committee, Village Council, Village staff, and the consulting firm, Planimetrics.

The overall philosophy of the Plan is to preserve and enhance those things that make Pinehurst special. The primary goals indentified in the Plan are to:

• Preserve and enhance the unique character and ambience of the entire community, especially the historic Village Center, and maintain the legacy of Pinehurst for future residents and visitors to enjoy,

• Enhance the quality of life for present and future residents,

• Guide growth or change in ways that complement the unique character and ambience of the community, and

• Address community needs in the most effiicient and cost-effective manner.
