Besides ballfields, Cannon Park has a ¼ mile walking trail and is home to Camelot Playground. Description: The Fair Barn, maintained and operated by the Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department, is the oldest surviving early twentieth-century fair exhibition hall in North Carolina. It was built in 1917 for use as the Sandhills Fair, one of the major country fairs in the Southeast from 1915 through 1925. Restored in 2002, The Fair Barn is now a multi-purpose community gathering place. The ceiling soars 2 1/2 stories high, with large skylights that allow natural light to permeate the room. The pigmentation in the unusual floor complements the massive wooden structure.For your catering needs, the well-equipped, large kitchen, includes a refrigerator, freezer, ice maker and commercial gas range.State of the art dressing rooms, and beautifully tiled restrooms also add to the charm of the building. The Fair Barn has been the site of exhibitions, receptions, private parties, auctions, educational clinics, business seminars, concerts, art and antique shows, and any other functions requiring a large multi-use facility. Description: The Pinehurst Harness Track is a 111-acre equestrian facility that has been a winter training center for standardbred horses since 1915. The grounds consist of three training tracks and several center aisle barns with approximately 300 stalls, as well as several paddocks. Champion trotters and pacers train on either the 1/2 mile sand/clay track, the 5/8 mile sand/jog track, or the 1 mile clay track, all of which serve as an ideal winter training facility.  The tracks are also available for rent when training is not taking place.  Typical events include horse shows, car shows, dog shows, and rugby matches.
