PET TAGS NO LONGER REQUIRED IN PINEHURST

As of September 13, 2011, pet tags are no longer required within the Village.   The current pet tagging system was evaluated by the Village’s Cost Containment Committee and found to be ineffective in getting the majority of pets within the Village tagged for identification purposes.

The Village has partnered with Animal Advocates of Moore County to provide pet microchip clinics throughout the year. Having cats and dogs microchipped is an effective way for Police and animal control officers to identify the owner of a lost pet. Chipping is also permanent which eliminates the need to purchase a new tag each year.

The next pet microchip clinic will be held Saturday November 5th from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Village Assembly Hall. The cost to have a pet microchipped is $20. For details or more information, please contact Animal Advocates of Moore County at 944-5098.
